- Boppy pillow. While I breastfed, regular pillows always worked best for me. Plus boppy’s don’t open very wide so if you’re a bigger individual, they won’t work at all. Plus you can totally just sew one yourself instead of paying $45 for a pillow and a case.
- Glider. I was ALL ABOUT getting the perfect glider. However, it sat in Ro’s nursery, where Ro never was, and collected dust. I’ve now moved it downstairs and incooperated it into my living room because I love to sit in it.
- Just about all nursery furniture. Unless you are somehow able to put your baby in their crib as soon as they’re born or in the weeks following, the nursery is really a holding place for what’s to come. Ro sleeps in a Fisher Price rocking bassient(http://www.target.com/p/Fisher-Price-Newborn-Rock-N-Play-Sleeper/-/A-11699689) which I highly reccomend, beside my bed. She’s changed either on my bed when we’re upstairs or on my storage ottoman that I have set up to accomadate all her immediate needs. She sleeps in the day time in the rocker, and plays on floor mats and sits in her bumbo. All down stairs and all not in the nursery. We only ever go in the nursery to get her clothes, throw away stinky diapers or to add more cute decorations. I think she’s only been changed in there once.
- Bibs. I’ve only used burp cloths up until now (I HIGHLY reccomend the Carter’s 100% cotton ones.) because i’ve only needed them for burping reasons. Ro is 10 weeks and drooling porfusely, so now we’re starting to use bibs, but until last week, there was really no need for them.
- Baby shoes. Cute as they may be, newborns can barely keep socks on, let alone shoes. I got a pair as a gift, and they were and still are just something to remind me of how small she was.
- Excess Swaddling blankets. when I was pregnant, I never bought any big, fluffy blankets. Just thing, cute, swaddling blankets. When Ro was born, though we did swaddle her quite a bit, the 40 blankets I had was excessive. Thankfully I recieved some thick, plush blankets as gifts. The thick blankets are great for laying down over hard surfaces so it’s comfortable for baby, and also to keep them sguggly in their carseat, or in a rocker like mine.
- Soothie’s pacifier clips. Ro uses a Soothie (the ones from the hospital) and though she does NEED a clip to hold it securely to her shirt, the soothie clips usually just piss her off. For one, they’re very cute, which sadly means they are also very large. Also when a young baby who doesn’t have total control of their hands has a short string hanging from their face, they kinda loose their mind. Ro would accidentally grab the string and THROW her pacifier as hard as she could. Thus resulting in confusuion as to why the pacifier was gone, which led to the lip poking out and screams, which then in turn led to me having a case of the anxiety farts becasue we were in the middle of Target and everyone is staring. And It kinda stinks, but I blame that on the baby.
